In June 2019, Galina became part of Next Generation Travel, a group of specialist travel companies.
Since 1989, Galina International has organised WWI & WWII battlefield tours in northern Europe. In 1991 we became the Official Tour Operator for the Normandy Veterans’ Association, a position we held until that organisation was officially disbanded at the end of 2014.
We are committed to providing quality tours for groups who wish to visit the battlefields and their environs, either for general interest or commemorative purposes.
We offer executive coach-based travel from the U.K. to the battlefields of France, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, as well as tours within Britain. Our tour itineraries include travel via ferry from Hull, Dover, and Portsmouth, or via Eurotunnel, taking into account your groups’ preferred pick-up point, and the route which provides you with the best value for money.
Whatever your group type – serving or ex-serving military, special interest, educational, corporate or cadet group – if you would like to visit these areas of historical importance, we can help organise your tour. We also organise freesale tours for individuals & small groups.

In 1989, Dr. Barry Matthews, a former English teacher & Head of Faculty, established Galina. The company’s speciality was battlefield tours for adults & tours for school groups. In 1992, Mr. Ian Matthews joined the company as a partner. He had previously worked as a History teacher & Head of Department.
The founding of the company coincided with major Commemorative Events that took place over the next few years, including the 50th Anniversaries of Dunkirk (1990), El Alamein (1992), Monte Cassino, Arnhem & the Normandy Landings (1994).
In 1999 Galina moved from Hull to larger premises in the heart of Chester – on the historic rows – where it is based today.
In 2010 Galina also became a Limited Company. It remains an independently-owned concern with a distinctive approach to battlefield tours which is appreciated by a diverse range of individuals and groups.
