Our itinerary for the Battle of Arnhem 75th Anniversary includes attendance at the major commemorative events during the pilgrimage weekend as well as a battlefield tour of the Arnhem area. This will cover the Landing & Dropping Zones, the fate of the coup de main party & key locations along Tiger & Lion Routes. The battle at the Bridge & Hackett’s attempt to break through from west Arnhem can also be covered. Westerbouwing & Lonsdale’s Church offer two vantage points from which to consider the development of the Perimeter & the final evacuation (Operation Berlin).
Thursday 19th to Monday 23rd September 2019 (5 days, 4 nights B&B via Dover. Travel via Hull is also available; please ask our staff for details)

Day One (Thurs 19th Sept 2019): Outward
Local group pick-up(s) & travel to Dover. Ferry to Calais & onward travel to Arnhem. Evening check-in at accommodation (B&B for four nights)
Day Two (Fri 20th Sept 2019): Arnhem
Depart hotel after breakfast for a battlefield tour of the
Arnhem area. Visits selected from: Landing (LZs) &
Dropping Zones (DZs) at Ginkel & Renkum Heath & Reijerscamp, Johnannahoeve, Heelsum Glider Memorial & Kussin Crossroads, Hartenstein Museum & Schoonord Crossroads, the Tafelberg Hotel, Westerbouwing Heights, “Lonsdale’s” Church & Kate ter Horst’s house, Bovenover & Onderlangs & St Elizabeth’s Hospital. Check-in at your accommodation (B&B for four nights). Return to Arnhem for Commemorative Service & wreath-laying at the Airborne Memorial by the John Frost Bridge. Alternatively your group may wish to arrange their own itinerary for the day.
Day Three (Sat 21st Sept 2019): Parachute Drop
Depart hotel after breakfast to attend the Commemorative Parachute Drop at Ginkel Heath &
the Service at the Sheepfold Memorial. Lunch in Arnhem or Nijmegen. Free time in Arnhem or Nijmegen or afternoon visit to Oosterbeek cemetery with time for personal reflection. Visit Driel Polish Memorial before returning to accommodation.
Day Four (Sun 22nd Sept 2019): Commemoration
Depart after breakfast to attend the 75th Anniversary Commemorative Service at Oosterbeek Cemetery. Lunch in Arnhem or Nijmegen. Afternoon visit to Groesbeek Canadian War Cemetery & Memorial to the Missing. Return to accommodation & evening free.
Day Five (Mon 23rd Sept 2019): Return
Depar for Calais after breakfast. ferry crossing to Dover & return to drop-off point(s).
