Here are the details for Ypres Battlefield Tour includes the Ypres Salient, Ypres, Messines & Passchendaele 3 day tour via Dover.
Ypres, Messines & Passchendaele: The First World War raged around the small Flemish town of Ypres for almost four years. During that time this area of Flanders was witness to the stand made by the British Expeditionary Force at First Ypres in 1914 during which the fighting passed from a war of movement to the stalemate of the trenches. Ypres was also the scene of the first use of gas and flamethrowers as well as mine warfare. The most notorious of the battles fought here was Passchendaele in 1917 which for many came to epitomise the horror and futility of the Great War but there were also innumerable other actions and trench raids in what was predominantly a static war.
